Check-Sheets
The check-sheet system was developed as an effort to more closely monitor dimensional accuracy across every stage of the ship’s construction and assembly. With the guidance from our departmental advisor, I designed the layout and structure of these sheets to standardize how measurement data is captured, reviewed, and tracked over time.
Earlier versions were drafted using SpatialAnalyzer and Excel, but once we gained access to Aveva Marine and AutoCAD, the workflow became significantly faster, cleaner, and more consistent with production drawings. This allowed the check-sheets to clearly reference structural geometry and other key points and information in a practical way for field work.
Each stage of construction has its own dedicated check-sheet which ensures that dimensional control is monitored and maintained throughout the different stages rather than only at final fit-ups. These sheets form the foundation of an accuracy control program designed to reduce error, improve alignments, and support a more precise and predictable build process.
